Prioritizing the use of public vehicles and strongly encouraging the use of bicycles and walking, is fundamental for the reduction of harmful gas emissions to the air and the reduction of noise pollution.
The use of sustainable means of transport in the City has increased sharply in recent years. The sum of trips by bicycle, urban bus, subway, train and on foot is equivalent to 70% of all trips. Even so, it is necessary to consolidate efficiency, especially that of buses, through the reduction of travel times and greater accessibility, predictability and comfort.
To date, the City has a wide Metrobus network, located in different strategic urban points:
El Bajo runs on Leandro N. de Alem and Paseo Colón avenues, passing through the neighborhoods of Retiro, Puerto Madero and San Telmo. It is 2.9 km long and benefits 300 thousand people.
San Martín connects San Martín and Juan B. Justo Avenues, passing through Villa Crespo, Villa General Mitre, Paternal, Villa del Parque, Agronomía and Villa Devoto. It is 5.8 km long and benefits more than 70 thousand people per day.
Metrobús Norte improves the connection between the Vicente López district and the city. It is 5 km long and benefits 200,000 people.
Metrobús Norte, stage 2 runs through the neighborhoods of Belgrano, Palermo and Colegiales. It is 2.8 km long and benefits 250,000 people.
Autopista 25 de Mayo (Highway), the first reversible metrobus lane in the country to run on a highway. It reduces noise levels and constant emissions due to constant speeds, less acceleration and deceleration. It is 7.5 km long and benefits 120,000 people.
Metrobús Sur connects the southern end of the City with the Transit Hub in Constitución. The project included the value enhancement of eight neighborhoods (Villa Riachuelo, Villa Soldati, Villa Lugano, Nueva Pompeya, Parque Patricios, Boedo, San Cristóbal and Constitución). It is 23 km long and benefits 250,000 people.
Metrobus 9 de Julio enhances the connectivity between the central area of the City and the transit hubs in Constitución. It is 3 km long and benefits 255,000 people.
Juan B. Justo reduces travel time by 40%. It is 12 km long and benefits 150,000 people.
Since the inauguration of the Juan B. Justo Metrobus in 2011, we have incorporated these eight corridors of more than 60 km long. This has reduced travel time along the corridors by more than 40% and represents a decrease of more than 20% in fuel use.
