El Café Rivas está ubicado en uno de los rincones más representativos de San Telmo. Hasta este cruce llegaba el antiguo damero de 1580 de Juan de Garay, que en ese momento coincidía con el borde de la barranca junto al río.
Café Rivas está instalado en una antigua casona en esquina y dialoga con sus vecinos, el mítico Bar Sur y la “Librería la Nueva”.
Su estructura presenta una marquesina de hierro sobre la entrada de la ochava y amplios ventanales tipo guillotina También se puede observar, sobre calle Estados Unidos, la enredadera de Santa Rita y el reloj colgante.
En su interior puede sentirse el olor a café afrancesado o vienés en su salón de doble altura con boiserie, pisos de madera y una barra que corre a lo largo de casi todo el local. Ese toque europeo se refuerza por las antiguas lámparas, los ventiladores de techo y el entrepiso con barandas esterilladas que balconea sobre la barra.
Rivas es un café muy especial y es el elegido por oficinistas y turistas de la zona para almorzar, cenar, tomar un cóctel de autor o un café y escuchar buena música.
