Este edificio, originalmente llamado Casa Nocetti fue construido en 1894 con piezas prefabricadas importadas de Francia y fundidas en los talleres de Gustave Eiffel, el ingeniero que había diseñado y construido la famosa Torre Eiffel tan solo unos pocos años antes, para la Exposición Universal de 1889 en París.
El edificio fue encargado al arquitecto suizo Lorenzo Siegeris por el ingeniero Domingo Nocetti como local de exposición y ventas de maquinaria agrícola que fabricaba bajo la marca “El Forjador”. Todavía se puede ver, como remate del edificio, la figura escultórica de un forjador que hace referencia a la marca de molinos, cocinas económicas y artículos para el trabajo agrícola y rural que se exponían en este lugar. Posteriormente, se instaló en este mismo edificio la conocida Ferretería Hirsch y actualmente funciona la discoteca Club Museum.
En el centro y el Casco Histórico podés encontrar otras obras del mismo arquitecto de este edificio, como el Palacio Raggio, en Moreno y Bolívar, frente al Colegio Nacional de Buenos Aires o la que era la casa central de las Tiendas Gath y Chaves, en la esquina de Florida y Bartolomé Mitre.
Un último dato: ¿sabías que Soda Stereo, la famosa banda argentina, filmó en este edificio, en 1989, el video de su canción “La Ciudad de la Furia”?

You are in "El Forjador." This building, originally called Casa Nocetti, was built in 1894 with prefabricated parts imported from France and cast in the workshops of Gustave Eiffel, the engineer who had designed and built the Eiffel Tower just a few years earlier.
The building was commissioned to the Swiss architect Lorenzo Siegeris by the engineer Domingo Nocetti as a showroom for the exhibition and sale of agricultural machinery, which he manufactured under the trademark "El Forjador". If you look up, you will still be able to see, as the top of the building, the sculptural figure of a smith that refers to the brand of mills, economical stoves and articles for agricultural and rural work that were exhibited in this place.
Later, the well-known Hirsch Hardware Store was installed here and nowadays the Club Museum discotheque functions here.
In downtown and the Historic Center you can find other works by the same architect , such as the Raggio Palace, on Moreno and Bolívar, in front of the Colegio Nacional de Buenos Aires or the former headquarters of the Gath and Chaves Stores, on the corner of Florida and Bartolomé Mitre.
One last fact: did you know that Soda Stereo, the famous Argentine band, filmed the video of their song "La Ciudad de la Furia" in this building in 1989?
