Esta antigua casona que ocupaba el solar fue construida en el año 1762 y aquí nació, en 1774, Domingo French, uno de los protagonistas de la Revolución de Mayo de 1810 que estableció el primer gobierno patrio y comenzó el camino hacia la independencia, que recién llegaría en el año 1816.
Domingo French organizó parte de las milicias criollas que defendieron la ciudad durante la primera de las invasiones inglesas en 1806 y, en los días previos al 25 de mayo de 1810, junto a su amigo y vecino Antonio Beruti y el grupo conocido como “los chisperos” fueron los encargados de repartir las cintas con las que se identificarían a los patriotas para poder ingresar a la Plaza Mayor, la actual Plaza de Mayo, e iniciar la revolución.
Actualmente en el solar funciona una galería comercial que conmemora la huella que Domingo French dejó en el lugar.

You are in the "Solar de French" Gallery. The old mansion that occupied the lot was built in 1762 and here, in 1774, Domingo French was born; he was one of the leaders of the May Revolution of 1810 that established the first patriotic government, and set out the path to independence, which was not to come until 1816.
Domingo French organized part of the Creole militias that defended the city during the first English Invasion in 1806 and, in the days prior to May 25, 1810, together with his friend and neighbor Antonio Beruti and the group known as "los chisperos", was in charge of handing out the ribbons with which the patriots would be identified in order to enter the Plaza Mayor, today's Plaza de Mayo, and start the revolution.
Today, the building is home to a commercial gallery that commemorates the mark that Domingo French left on the place.
