Until July 18 , the call is open to submit papers on topics defined for the 5th International Solar Cities Congress: Energy & Climate Change, Sustainable Construction, and Energy Use and Local Generation.

Organized by the Environmental Protection Agency (APrA), in collaboration with other areas of the Government of Buenos Aires City and the International Solar Cities Initiative , the 5th International Solar Cities Congress will take place on 17 and 18 November at the Metropolitan Design Center . During the Congress, leading figures from academic, politic, social and business world, will gather to socialize experiences and thinking strategies and concrete actions on the way to building more sustainable cities.
Under the Academic Forum of the Congress, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Science and Technology of the City of Buenos Aires, invites the participation of researchers and academics from around the world to present papers within the following themes:
Energy & Climate Change
- Urban energy planning for solar cities
- Environmental safety: vulnerability and risks on service supply infrastructure
- Energy efficiency as a strategy for climate change mitigation
- Energetic scenarios and GHG emissions
- Urban heat island and its impact on the city
- Renewable energy sources and GHG emissions reduction potential
Sustainable construction
- Energy efficient building design: Proposals and built examples
- Integrating renewable energy systems in buildings
- Refurbishment of existing buildings
- Sustainable building technologies, systems and innovative materials
- Policies, legislation and tools of promotion
- Optimizing the use and value of energy in buildings: consumption monitoring, control and evaluation
Energy Use and Local Generation
- Innovative technologies for the efficient use of energy
- Solar and Wind energy in urban environments
- Distributed generation in cities
- Solar policies, legislation and market mechanisms Intelligent ICT systems for optimizing community micro-grids
- Measurement and monitoring: how to develop baselines
Submitted papers will be evaluated by members of the Academic Committee, conformed by international leading scholars.
