The TV Business Encounter is an oportunity for exchanging information, trends and thoughts about different topics important for the actual market, it is also an event thought to be for training and to create commercial bonds between different actors in the industry.
2nd Edition took place on August 21, 2014. It was a one day panels and conference, where a prestigious line up of renowed speakers shared their experience, projects and inspired the public.
Among the invited speakers was Valerie Creighton, CEO of the Canada Media Fund, who presented the Canadian market and the co productions opportunities between both countries. In her panel, Valerie remarked the importance of the public politics regarding audiovisual and cultural products: “When you work in the public sector it is very important to encourage industries such as the audiovisual. We promote and develop projects, but our biggest advantage is the funding one.”
On the other hand, other distinguished members of the industry such as Hugo Di Guglielmo, who talked about global markets “In the actual market you should not produce something that is not designed for international markets. It’s just not worthy.”
Alex Lagomarsino, CEO of MediaBiz and Gerardo Brandy, director of Nippur Media, talked about business models both in air TV and cable TV in Latin-American. “The paper format doesn’t work anymore. It used to 10 years ago. Nowadays the broadcast channels don’t have the time to read it, you have to invest and shoot,at least, a teaser. Of twenty projects, they may buy one, but it’s the best way to catch their attention” Said Gerardo. “We should lay on the national talent and build a local industry avoiding that those same talents migrate to other markets.” Lagomarsino supported.
Carolina Bertoni, manager of content Alliance of YouTube for Argentina and Chile, talked about the development of audiences and new business, and remarked that “We must understand a new generation of audiences: Generation C, redefined by the change in the entertainment content and product consuming habits produced by the internet. It’s a concept beyond age: there’s a new consumer who’s also a creator”.
Also, we had other panels composed by Tamar Colodenco (General coordinator of UN3, the cannel of the University 3rd of February), Esteban Menis (creator of “Lloro de felicidad” (I cry because of happiness) and Eléctrica) and Julián Kartún from Cualca Project, who shared their experience and talked about distribution of content in new platforms. The Audiovisual Industry is composed by talented entrepreneurs and our job is to give them the tools to be impulse and to encourage their growth”.
