I would like to welcome you to the official website of the 5th International Solar Cities Congress, to be held in Buenos Aires, in November 2014. The City of Buenos Aires is honored to host the 2014 Solar Cities Congress, a world-renowned event that has become one of the highest expressions of innovation in renewable energies and their uses in large cities.

The work of the International Solar Cities Initiative is also an inspiring example. ISCI brings together voices from the scientific community, the public sector, civil society, and the private sector, while fostering dialogue and collaboration to create collective proposals, and focusing on seeking practical solutions to solve people’s daily problems. All these initiatives are part of a common vision and a management style that we are proud to share with ISCI.

Climate change is one of the major challenges currently faced by modern societies and is at the core of environmental policies in different countries. Cities play a central role in this scenario, because they are not only responsible for the consumption of 75% of the world’s energy and the production of 80% of the total greenhouse gases emissions. They can also build different strategies to face this environmental challenge.

This is why I am convinced that the 5th International Solar Cities Congress represents a unique opportunity for Buenos Aires. It will be a chance to reinforce our commitment to the environment, to show our plan against Climate Change, and to enhance our ideas and projects with the vision of experts and entrepreneurs from all over the world.
