La Madre

Fue creada por Domingo Jesús de Paez Torres, nacido el 1 de mayo de 1920, en San Isidro, quien cursó sus estudios en la Escuela de Artes en Mendoza. En 1939 fue becado por el Gobierno de San Luis para continuar sus estudios en Buenos Aires, donde se especializó en la restauración de obras de arte. Ingresó como titular del Departamento de Monumentos y Obras de Arte -MOA-, donde se restaura el patrimonio público de la Ciudad. Obtuvo varios premios y menciones, entre ellos, el Primer Premio en Escultura en la Segunda Bienal Puntana en el año 1972 por su obra Ensueño.

It is a tribute to the local motherhood and was inaugurated on November the 25th in 1970. It was created by Domingo Jesús de Paez Torres, who was born on May the 1st in 1920 in San Isidro and studied at the School of Arts in Mendoza. In 1939, he received a scholarship from the Government of San Luis to continue his studies in Buenos Aires, where he specialized in the restoration of works of art. He was part of Monumentos y Obras de Arte -MOA- where the public heritage of the City is restored. He was awarded several prizes and mentions, among them, the first prize in Sculpture at the Second Puntana Biennial in 1972 for his work “Ensueño”.
